Coelho published his first book in 1982 and which hardly made any impact. Hell Achieves failed, but did not stop him. His next book Practical Manual of Vampirism was published in the year 1985, which he later wanted to withdraw from the shelf, considering it as ‘bad quality’.
After his journey to Santiago de Compostela in 1986, Coelho wrote ‘The Pilgrimage” and he never looked back. Since the publication of The Alchemist Coelho has written almost one novel every two years. His books; are being translated into more than 67 languages, including English, and has gone on to win the ‘Guinness World Record’ for most translated books by any living author.
In all, Coelho has published 26 books so far, and sold over 100 million books in over 150 countries worldwide. He is the all time bestselling Portuguese language author.
His books are his journey into his own inner being, and which each one of us is able to relate with. Every book is able to open a new chapter within us, enabling us grow as we understand.
