Case studies find increasing use in business and marketing as tools with multiple uses. It not only helps you to showcase your successes and aid marketing, but also serves as a guideline for others to follow. This helps people follow certain steps that can produce effective results in certain cases; and all this from the experience and tested methods mentioned in the case study. Case studies serve multiple purposes but have to be handled differently for each purpose.
Writing case studies is a specialized skill. It requires an understanding of the technical aspects, business as well as excellent writing skills. Case studies are usually compiled by expert content writers, who may or may not be a part of the the team that achieved the results. Mostly writing case studies is outsourced to content writing firms, since it demands a degree of objectivity for it to be really effective. Moreover, it is a time-consuming task, requiring inputs from different functional experts at regular intervals.
Case studies can have two different flavors: One that is created for marketing purposes and the other for enhancing the training and development within a company. In my next post, I will talk in more detail about these two flavors.
